Car Hire |
|
Below is a list of local companies who provide reliable and cheap car hire. We have used all of these at some time or another and usually find different deals available at different times of the year. A useful tip is to check that your pick-up point is in the arrivals hall as some companies provide transport from the airport to a collection and drop off point in or around the San Javier/Alicante areas and although there is nothing wrong with this, it is much more convenient to collect your vehicle from within the airport itself. Another tip is to visit www.tripadvisor.co.uk to check out what other travellers think of the company you might book. As Spain is an EU country, if you have children travelling with you, they will be required to use a booster seat/car seat if they are less than 135cm tall. These can be hired from the car hire companies, also children under 12 years are not allowed to travel in the front seat. In Spain, car hire companies, when hiring a car for 4 days or more, tend to ask you to bring back the car empty of petrol. This is fine if you plan to drive many miles sight-seeing etc., as you can judge petrol usage and take back empty. However, if you simply want to get to & from the airport and then lounge around the villa all week, this can be an expensive option. Thus, it's worth looking for companies who let you bring back the tank full, but may charge a little more rental for the period. A full tank of petrol for a small car (e.g. Fiat Uno) costs around 60€! The first 2 links on the list below are good starting points (unless you know who you want to book through) as they compare all car hire companies working out of the Murcia (San Javier) & Alicante Airports.
